3. Following Christ: our challenges and struggles should be catalysts for our spiritual growth

Note 2: Honesty is an important element in discovering our value and purpose. To establish, or strengthen, our relationship with God, we must pray, study, be faithful, seek God’s will, and be obedient to the revelations of the Holy Spirit. But within that process—hopefully, at the beginning—we have to be honest with ourselves. We have to dig through our pride, insecurities, hurt, attitude, me-isms, and whatever else is blocking us and have real and honest conversations with ourselves and with God. We need to allow Him to take control of our lives and direct us to our purpose. God’s love encourages us to see ourselves as valuable, which in turn encourages us to want to please Him and discover our purpose. But first, we must be honest with ourselves.
