I’m reading Ezekiel 6 today.
God expresses His hurt in Israel’s consistent sins of chasing after and worshiping other gods and idols, described in Ezekiel 6:9 as whoring after other idols.
Israel allowed herself to be seduced by the religious practices of her neighbors, particularly the Canaanites who had many perverted beliefs and practices.
The interesting thing about seduction is you may not even realize that you have been seduced particularly if you are naive/unaware/not paying attention/lack knowledge/lack wisdom/lack discernment/just want to fit in with your neighbor (family, friends, social media). The next thing you know, you will find yourself putting things and people (idols) ahead of/ next to/ in place of God.
Idols common in our common culture includes but are not limited to: money, jobs, titles, organizations,fraternities, clubs, mates, spouses, children,family/friends that have died, fear, sex, others opinions of you, politics, ways of thinking, the past, food, physical fitness, education, personal accomplishments,etc.
God wants to be first and He wants to be the only one.
So today, consider what idol you are being seduced by. I personally have been seduced by many of the examples I mentioned above. But, I like you have to constantly remind myself that God and His calling goes first and should be my primary concern (seek ye first the Kingdom of God).
